Balinese culture is primarily Hindu, and Indonesia is a majority Muslim country, but they do cater a bit to tourists wanting to feel the Christmas vibes.
Who needs Santa when you’ve got Ganesha?
We tried as best we could to make Christmas in Bali feel special and familiar for the kids.
On a completely different topic, we found our first swimming beach in Uluwatu! Most of the beaches near us are for surfers only, and don’t have great swimming. We were very excited to find Padang Padang Beach!
Krista and Ella enjoying the crystal bluegreen waters of Padang Padang.Swimming is a favorite family activity! So glad we found this local spot.We scoured local markets for Xmas themed items. We found this “tree” and decorations made of felt. It’ll have to do! 🎄Also we found some window stickers and wooden snowflake decorations. Finley volunteered some socks for stockings 😄Kimo the cat admires our awesome stockings.Candy cane cookie for the big guy, of course!Woo hoo, Santa came to Bali! We figured that since we’re closer to the international date line, we get the first delivery and therefore, the best loot.Santa gave us swimming goggles! And cookies, yum!Ella got a Bali purse. In Bali, after opening presents, you go surfing!Everyone stood up on the first day, amazing! We had a very enthusiastic local surf guide, who helped us with board rentals and showed us where to go. An hour went by fast.We had the best time surfing, can’t wait to go again!BaliXmas was very cool. Feeling very grateful for this fun time together.
