Murni's Houses and Spa
In Ubud, Bali, we stayed at Murni’s Houses and Spa a boutique hotel in a quiet neighbourhood, which blew us all away with its serene beauty and the abundance of Balinese art. It was by far the most enjoyable place any of us had ever stayed.

In the early 1980s Murni started to construct Murni’s Houses in Ubud, a complex of seven, now twelve, extraordinary residences and open-air pavilions amid a garden full of flowers, statues, fountains, trees and shrubs lying all by itself next to open fields.

We were invited to attend a ceremony with Murni’s family. A Balinese Hindu priest was there to bless a new building in their family compound. It is not uncommon for such a ceremony to accompany significant events in Balinese life. We felt fortunate to be a part of it.
