Taman Sari
The construction of Taman Sari was completed in 1765. The complex included 59 buildings, featuring a mosque, meditation chambers, swimming pools, and 18 water gardens. Taman Sari suffered damage during the Java War of 1825 – 1830 and became disused after the 1867 earthquake. In the early 1970s, restoration efforts were initiated, with only the bathing complex being completely restored. The pools were designed for children, women, and the King. They were adorned with jasmine and other scented flowers, while cages in the corners held incense and aromatic delights that would be burned — a dream-like setting for Krista.
